Hi, I’m Jamie
As a region Ops Manager at FedEx, I had dual resposibilities: full operations management and P&L accountability for multiple locations across the country + responsibility for leadership development and continuous improvement for the division.
We had some initial results with Lean, but improvements stalled, and it felt like we were dragging people along. That’s when I realized how our ops managers led their teams presented the biggest gap preventing us from developing a people-centric, continuous improvement culture.
Through Lean integration and leadership development, we reduced safety accidents by 70%, improved done right / on time from 98.7% to 99.72%, reduced bottom-line, hard-dollar costs by 10%, and improved employee engagement ratings by eight percentage points. And the best part, we were no longer dragging people along.
I love a great mystery, especially the kinds with red-string murder boards, because I love connecting the dots and solving tricky problems like a detective. Just like I love helping clients figure out how to stop doing Lean as a bolt-on and start integrating it through their ops leadership teams.
